The 1st 24 Hours of Bolton Results
2017 was the first year for the 24 Hours of Bolton, and it was well worth the wait. After postponing the race due to a lack of snow in 2016, competitors were eager to get on course and put in as many laps as possible. Amazingly, the battle for both the men and women's 24-hour solo title came down to the final hour of the race.
At 11:53 AM, Dave Irving opted to do one more lap on the day loop to secure the male division victory by only 155 feet! Such grit! On the women's side, Leslie Burnard was able to hold off Jenn Wilcox and Beth Van Parys to take home the female title with a total of 15,485 vertical feet of climbing.
It's hard to imagine 24 hours in ski boots, but these competitors did it with a smile and uncanny determination. Congratulations to all of our racers, and know that you and your comrades were part of something very special under that brisk full moon. We'll see you in 2018!
